Yes. We hire many camp counselors without a BAFA qualification for both school trips and vacation camps. The standard English level required to work at American Village is C1.
Yes. We hire BAFA-qualified counselors from March through November every year. The minimum English level for summer BAFA positions is B2.
With a BAFA qualification, you can work on American Village school trips or at our vacation camps.
· For American Village school trips, you can apply for a School Trip Manager or Language Counselor position. However, days worked on school trips cannot count toward your BAFA practical training requirement.
· For American Village vacation camps, you can apply for a camp counselor position. Days worked at these camps may count toward your BAFA practical training requirement.
Yes, you can complete your practical training at our vacation camps. However, you must tell us you are in a ‘stage pratique’ during the recruitment process. Staffing ratios apply, so not all positions are available to BAFA trainees. During your interview, make sure to confirm how many days at our camps will count toward your practical training requirement.
The practical training placement must include at least 14 days actually worked with children present. It can be split into a maximum of two parts, with each part lasting at least four days.
We accept all officially recognized (French) equivalents. You can work as a counselor at American Village with a STAPS degree, Social Sciences degree. Other common equivalents include BEES 1, BEATEP, BPJEPS, BAPAAT, DUT Carrières Sociales, DEME, CAP AEPE,.

We hire BAFA-qualified counselors from March through November. With a BAFA qualification, you can work at American Village for four, five, or six months.
Summer is a major recruitment period for us because of the number of camps we run. We offer summer contracts for BAFA-qualified counselors lasting two to eight weeks.
